Other courses for more experienced people are also available. This course is designed to teach applicants everything they need to know about motorcycles and how to safely use them. The Basic Rider Course is a 15-hour course that is perfect for beginners and returning motorcyclists. Going through an approved motorcycle safety course can be a great way to get the proper training to drive a motorcycle on the roads of Louisiana. Before trying the skills test you must bring a motorcycle with a current license plate, insurance, and inspection sticker. Learner's permits are available for those that pass just the knowledge portion of the endorsement test. Those that are 15 or 16 years of age are allowed a restricted license that allows driving only within a three-mile radius of their residence. Applicants must have a valid Louisiana driver's license or learner's permit before attempting a motorcycle endorsement.
